Dancin' the Night Away

So I haven't gotten into the habit yet of updating our blog. But I am working on it.
So what has been happening around our household you ask?
Just a couple weeks ago Jourden was accompanied by my dad to her Girl Scout "Me and My Guy" dance. It was a 50's theme. Dad came and got her and they went out to eat and then danced the night away.

Piano lessons

Jourden and Joel started piano lessons yesterday. Yes Shawn will be joining them but he and Jourden will be switching off weeks(since they are already in band). They had a really fun time. And did very well. We were actually able to use the books that I used frowing up so that was nice not to have to go out and buy new ones. :-) I am not exaclty sure how I ended up with them, but I did. They are taking lessons from Sandra Nance from our church. Not sure if she will do any kind of recital type thing, but if so we will some how put it up so you all can watch.

A little late....but better late than never...

So it is already almost 2 weeks into the new year and I am just now getting around to welcoming in the new year.
We had a fun new years eve. We had some friends and family over and rocked out to Rock Band on the Wii. And got ourselves a good workout on the Wii Fit with snoboarding with Shawn White. Jimmy got in his first "snowboarding accident". hahaha Yes on the Wii Fit. I guess when you don't use your knees like that they do get a little sore.
Shawn spent New Years Eve with some of the yough from church. It was his first "party" away from us. He had a good time and didn't really give me many details. I think that is his shy nature. So I guess that is what I have to look forward to...my "baby" going to parties. ahhhh!! :-)

So far this year we have celebrated(long distance) my neice Ally's birthday, Jimmy's grandmas birthday, Rosco's(our dog) birthday, and my birthday(which is today).
My wonderful dad and step-mom sent me flowers to work today. And they were beautiful. I will post a picture soon. Thanks dad and Micki!

Yesterday(January 12) was a friend of ours birthday and tomorrow(January 14) is another friends birthday. So sunday we had them all over for cake and ice cream. And then we all watched Extreme Homemakeover(it was the family from Pekin Illinois). We had a fun time celebrating all together.

So that pretty much wrapps up our first 2 weeks of the new year. We are looking forward to seeing what this new year bring us.

Happy Sunday

Well New Year's Eve is just 3 days away. We aren't sure exactly sure what we are going to do yet. Jimmy has to work that night(not sure till when) so I am sure we will just have our neighbors over and play games, watch movies, and rock out with Rock Band. Shawn though has plans. Yes he does. The youth at church are having a little get together. And since he is of age(12 tee hee hee) he gets to participate. I think he is pretty excited about it too. When we were leaving church today, 2 of the girls were sitting on the couch as we walked by and said, "Hey Shawn are you coming Wednesday? Are you coming wednesday?" I thought it was so cute! Well of corse he told them yes. So I will for sure update you after the new year how his night went. I probably won't get to many "details" out of him. But I will fill you in on what I do get.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Christmas

Christmas was sure a busy one this year. We only had one place to go christmas Eve(which normally we have two). We spent Christmas Eve at Jimmy's grandmas with his side of the family. Lots of people in a not so big house, but it was fun being with family. Then we came home and open our "Christmas Eve" gifts. Which the kids always know are pajamies. We all get new jammies every year. And we also opened our "homemade gifts" from my side of the family. Which the kids enjoyed very much. Then it was off to bed to await Santa.

Christmas morning, Joel was up bright and early(I think it was 7:15am). But Joel wanted to open his present from Santa. But mom and dad told him we wanted to sleep just one more hour. Then he came back in about 8:30am. And Jimmy said we should get up. So we all got up and went down to eat breakfast. Because we all HAVE to eat breakfast before we open presents. That was a "tradition" when I was growing up and I made it one for my family too(thanks mom and dad, I love that one). Joel couldn't stop talking about his present from Sants. He just knew it was an electric guitar. So after we ate it was time for presents. The kids got to open their gifts from Santa first. Joel did get his guitar, it wasn't electric, but he still loved it. Jourden got her Nintendo DS, with a game and a carry case. Shawn got his Spyro game for the PlayStation. Then it was onto all the other gifts. And yes even Rosco got in on the fun. The kids couldn't wait for Rosco to open his present...it was the BIGGEST of all!!! And yes I am serious. It was the biggest box of all. It said "TO: ROSCO" right on the box. OF corse he couoldn't open it so we let the kids open it for him. But to their surprise it was Rock Band for the Wii. hahaha we got them good. Joel said, "It's Rock Band...is it really for Rosco?" We put Rosco's name on the box so the kids wouldn't bother it. And they didn't. Good idea mom and dad. hahaha
Jimmy and the kids put Rock Band together and we all rocked out to a few songs while we waited for Grampa and Micki to come over. They arrived and we opened presents with them. Then we went to Aunt Linda's and Marks for some yummy lunch. And boy was it yummy. But then again it is always yummy at Aunt Linda's house.

Then we made our way upto Jimmys grandmas to open gifts with her and Jimmys mom. We opened gifts and played a few games there. Then we made our way to the movie theater to meet Aunt Carrie, Brittany and Chaz for a Christmas Movie. We saw The Tale of Desparo(yes I know it is spelled wrong). It was a good movie. After the movie we came home and opened our stockings. Yes thank you again mom and dad for that tradition of opening our stockings at the very end of the Christmas day. The kids still ask all day long of they can open them, but we still wait till the very end of the day.

All in all it was a busy Christmas but it was fun and we loved being with family and getting to talk to our family that we couldn't be with. Maybe one of these years we all will be able to be together for Christmas. We love you all!!!
I am new to this whole Blogging thing. But I am hoping that I will be able to keep our famiy and friends up to date with all that is going on in our lives. That will be one of my many goals for the new year. So here we go...
